I am an engineer. My job is to look at systems, whether it’s the thermal envelope of an apartment block in Antwerp or the financial flow of a continent. When a system is efficient, the inputs match the outputs. But right now, in Europe, the math is broken. We are living in a “Great Energy Mirage.”

As I walk through the streets of Antwerp, I see a city under pressure. The 2026 renovation obligations are here. Building owners are being squeezed to upgrade their EPC labels. They are told there is no “magic money” for subsidies. They are told the “Green Transition” is a burden they must carry alone.

Yet, when we look at the headlines, the money is there. It just isn’t for you.

The Billions vs. The Bricks

This week, the EU announced another €6 Billion for Ukraine to purchase drones. At the exact same moment, President Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine is beginning to export and sell weapons, including drones, because they have reached a state of overproduction.

Let’s look at this through the lens of physics: If a system has a surplus to sell on the open market, it does not need an external infusion of emergency cash. In any logical engineering project, if you have a surplus of material, you stop buying more.

But in the EU “Stealing Scheme,” logic has been replaced by a shell game. We are sending billions of taxpayer euros to purchase a surplus that already exists, while our own infrastructure, our roads, our energy grids, and our homes, is in a state of thermal and structural collapse.

What €6 Billion Could Build in Belgium

To understand the scale of this waste, we have to look at the micro-level.

I’ve been tracking a typical renovation on Karel Oomsstraat in Antwerp. It’s an apartment block for 100 families. To do a deep, Northern-standard renovation, one that actually moves the building to Class A and kills the energy bills forever, it costs roughly €5.5 Million.

If we took that €6 Billion “drone fund” and applied it to the European housing crisis:

• We could fully renovate over 1,000 massive apartment blocks.
• We could move 100,000 families out of energy poverty and into energy sovereignty.
• We could create a real “Green Future” that is built on physics, not on carbon-tax marketing.

Instead, that money is diverted. The Belgian middle class is told to “save energy” and “invest in heat pumps” while the very capital meant to facilitate that transition is being funneled into a surplus market elsewhere.

The “Chaos Tax” and the Intentional Weakening of the EU

In my work, I compare Belgian renovations to the North. The materials are the same price. The labor is comparable. But in Belgium, the process is a “Chaos Tax.” It is fragmented, slow, and designed to fail so that owners have to pay twice.

When you see the same “chaos” happening at the governmental level, where billions are sent away while the domestic foundation rots, you have to ask: Is this incompetence, or is it by design?

If you wanted to systematically weaken the EU, you would do exactly what is happening now:

1. Bankrupt the Middle Class with impossible renovation mandates.
2. Starve the Infrastructure of investment.
3. Divert the Capital to external markets under the guise of “emergency.”
