Belgium’s €0.82/kWh Energy Scam

Let’s start with real numbers, not greenwashed fantasies.

I live in Belgium. I use electricity for everything (2 persons), washer, dryer, cooking, ventilation, even a 3kW kettle. What I don’t have is a zombie box (TV), and I consume intentionally, not out of some “eco cult,” but because it makes sense. So my total annual electricity consumption: 386 kWh.

And my total bill?

€315.38 — that’s €0.82 per kWh.

This includes:

Energy: €131.45
Grid fees + taxes: €166.08
VAT: €17.85 → €315.38 total

Compare that to a typical 2,500 kWh Belgian household, same grid fee (€166), but spread across more kWh. Their fixed cost per unit drops to €0.066/kWh.

Let’s be clear:

Efficient users like me pay over 12x more in grid fees per kWh. The more you waste, the less you pay per unit.

🚨 EU Hypocrisy in Plain Sight

We’re told to “consume less,” “be efficient,” and “fight climate change.” And yet the tariff system actively punishes you for doing just that.

Let’s review:

✅ The EU Directive 2019/944 Article 15 demands “cost-reflective” pricing. ❌ Fixed grid fees are the opposite, they ignore actual usage. ✅ Renewables are subsidized. ❌ But those subsidies are funded by taxes on the most efficient users.

So no, this isn’t a flaw in the system. It is the system. A scam disguised as sustainability.

🧠 But Why Is There No Uproar?

Simple.

Because 95% of the population has no idea what a kilowatt-hour is. People don’t read energy bills. They don’t calculate unit cost. They see €25/month and feel “safe.” They don’t realize that the less they consume, the more they’re being fleeced.

They comply quietly, and get robbed silently.

⚠️ Off-Grid? Forbidden (Just Not Officially)

Some will say, “just go off-grid.” That’s the smart move, right?

But try it. Belgium, like many EU states, has quietly made true energy independence functionally illegal:

Building codes force connection to the grid.
Insurance providers refuse coverage without it.
Local municipalities invent excuses: “safety,” “zoning,” “fire risk,” etc.

You’re allowed to have panels, but not freedom.

🧨 The Real Agenda

This is not about CO₂, climate, or sustainability. It’s about control, extraction, and dependence.

Smart, aware individuals are being punished for not feeding the system.
Grid monopolies are protected.
“Green living” is rebranded as a luxury lifestyle.

The system doesn’t want you to be efficient. It wants you to obey, pay, and stay dependent.

🔚 The Only Real Options Left:

Play dead, pay up, and pretend it’s fine.
Build a new system in silence, far from public sight.
Or eventually, burn the current one down.

Because this system isn’t broken.

It was built this way on purpose.
